Profiles and sources are important concepts of AutoFocus Server. A profile gives access to a collection sources. Profiles provide specific views on the sources to users. Sources represent the locations where documents and other items (images, movies, etc.) can be found. Profiles and sources are explicitly defined by the user, providing full control over what information is being searched through. Sources can be stored in the default (or local) metadata back-end or in another (remote) metadata back-end.
Profiles configuration
A user get access to the content scanned by AutoFocus Server via the profiles. A profile is a collection of sources either defined by this AutoFocus Server instance (local sources) or imported remotely from other Servers somewhere on the net (remote sources).
Profiles are configured in Profiles section of the Administration Console.
